Sevierville is the first Smoky Mountain town you reach driving in from I-40, a few miles north of Pigeon Forge. It’s Dolly Parton’s hometown (her statue stands outside the county courthouse), and its cabins sit in the hills around town, often with more space for the money than cabins closer to the national park.
Where to stay
- South of town toward Pigeon Forge keeps you close to the Parkway, Dollywood and the Island.
- The hills east and west of town have quieter cabins with mountain views and a short drive to restaurants and shops.
- Near Highway 66 and Exit 407 is quickest to and from the interstate, near Soaky Mountain Waterpark and Wilderness at the Smokies.
Best times to visit
- Fall colors: October is the busiest month in the Smokies; book early.
- Winter lights: From November through February, Smoky Mountain Winterfest lights up Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, and January and February bring the lowest cabin rates.
- Summer: Water parks and the national park are busy; weekday stays are easier on the budget.
- Weather to know: Snow and ice can make steep cabin driveways hard to climb in winter; check whether a cabin needs four-wheel drive.
Getting there
Knoxville’s McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) is about 45 minutes away. Most visitors drive in on I-40 and Highway 66, which runs through Sevierville to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

Tips for booking
Sevierville cabins are a good pick for bigger groups and longer stays. Count the drive time to Gatlinburg and the park (about 30 minutes in traffic), and compare the nightly rate and the total with fees before you book.
