Wears Valley is a quiet farming valley on the west side of Pigeon Forge, bordered by the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Cabins line the ridges above Wears Valley Road with long mountain views, away from the Parkway traffic but about 15 minutes from Pigeon Forge.
Where to stay
- Along Wears Valley Road (US-321) keeps you near the valley’s restaurants and shops and the easiest drive into Pigeon Forge.
- The ridges above the valley have the best views, often on steep, winding roads.
- Toward the Foothills Parkway is closest to its overlooks and to Townsend and Cades Cove on the quiet side of the park.
Best times to visit
- Fall colors: October brings peak color to the valley and the Foothills Parkway.
- Winter: Quiet and cozy, with Winterfest lights a short drive away in Pigeon Forge and the lowest cabin rates of the year.
- Spring: Wildflowers and waterfalls in the national park, with lighter crowds than summer.
- Weather to know: Ridge-top cabins can be hard to reach on snow and ice; check the driveway and whether you need four-wheel drive.
