A cabin with a hot tub, a fireplace and nobody else around is the classic Valentine’s Day getaway. In 2027 it comes with a bonus: Valentine’s Day falls on Sunday, February 14, and Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 15, so many couples get a three-day weekend. That also makes it the busiest cabin weekend of the winter. Here are four cabin regions worth the drive, what makes a cabin romantic, and how to get one before they’re gone.
The Smokies: Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Wears Valley
East Tennessee has more cabins with hot tubs than anywhere else we list, and “romantic cabins in Tennessee” searches jump fourfold in February. Each town has a different feel:
- Gatlinburg: mountain-view cabins in the hills above a walkable downtown, with restaurants, a moonshine tasting or two, and the national park on the edge of town for a winter hike.
- Pigeon Forge: the biggest choice of hot tub cabins, close to the dinner shows and the Parkway. Dollywood is closed in February (its 2026 season ends January 3, 2027), but Winterfest lights may still be up early in the month.
- Wears Valley: the quiet side of the Smokies, with secluded cabins and long valley views, 15–20 minutes from Pigeon Forge.
February in the Smokies is chilly, often in the 30s at night and the 40s or 50s by day, with the occasional snow. That’s hot tub weather. Check how steep the cabin’s road is if you’re not driving all-wheel drive.
Hocking Hills, Ohio
Hocking Hills, about an hour southeast of Columbus, is the Midwest’s favorite couples’ cabin escape. The cabins are tucked into hemlock woods, many with hot tubs and fire pits, and Hocking Hills State Park is minutes away: Old Man’s Cave, Ash Cave and Cedar Falls are short winter hikes, and after a cold snap the waterfalls freeze into ice columns. It’s quiet here at night, which is the point. Plan dinners ahead; restaurants are spread out and some close early in winter.
Blue Ridge, Georgia
Blue Ridge sits in the North Georgia mountains, about two hours north of Atlanta. It pairs mountain-view cabins with a small, walkable downtown of restaurants, wine bars and shops, so you can have a nice dinner out without a long drive back. Wineries dot the surrounding mountains, and the lakes and national forest around town make for quiet winter walks. Nearby Ellijay and Helen are worth a look if Blue Ridge is full.
Broken Bow, Oklahoma
Broken Bow, in Oklahoma’s southeastern corner, has become the cabin getaway for Dallas–Fort Worth, about three and a half hours away, and it’s grown fast. Most cabins are in the pines around Hochatown and Beavers Bend State Park, and the newer ones lean luxurious: hot tubs, outdoor fireplaces, big windows and king suites. Hochatown has a strip of restaurants, wineries, breweries and a distillery, and the state park has easy trails along the Mountain Fork River.
With hundreds of cabins with hot tubs, Broken Bow is also the easiest place on this list to find one at the last minute.
What makes a cabin romantic
- A private hot tub on a screened or wooded deck. Look at the photos: a hot tub facing the neighbor’s deck isn’t the same thing.
- One bedroom with a king bed. Bigger cabins cost more and feel emptier for two. Filter for smaller cabins or read the bed list.
- A fireplace, gas for ease or wood for the crackle. The listing usually says which.
- A view and some distance. Reviews that mention “secluded,” “quiet” or “privacy” are a good sign.
- An easy road. Steep, icy driveways are the most common winter complaint in mountain cabin reviews.
- Check-in details. Self check-in with a door code makes a late Friday arrival painless.
Prefer snow? Try Big Bear
On the West Coast, Big Bear Lake has cabins with hot tubs and the best odds of snow in Southern California in February. See our Big Bear snow guide for roads, chains and where to stay.
